RECENT TRAGIC, OFF-DUTY FIREFIGHTER DEATHS
There have been several off duty Firefighter deaths that we are passing on:

California Firefighter, 25, drowns four years after dad’s LODD
A California Firefighter drowned in the Pacific Ocean this week – just four years after his Firefighter dad died on the job. Oakland Firefighter Caeden Laffan, 25, died around 0200 Thursday near the Pacific Pier south of La Jolla, San Diego. FF Laffan’s body was recovered around 0415 hours. Laffan – who was in San Diego for the California Summer Firefighter Games – was swimming with a friend at the time of his death. Laffan’s dad, Sean Laffan, was also an Oakland firefighter, who was an assistant Fire Chief who died from a heart attack while on duty in November 2020.
Two North Carolina Firefighters die in ATV crash in West Virginia
The Rowan-Iredell Fire Department is grieving the loss of two firefighters who were killed in an ATV accident while off-duty last weekend. Firefighters Daniel Sell and Jacob Steele were visiting West Virginia at the time of the incident. Sell and Steele were on a side-by-side ATV in southern West Virginia when the pair rolled over a hill and into a creek.
Delaware Firefighter/EMT/Dispatcher Killed In Car Crash
Brian Joseph Moore of Magnolia passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024. He was 31.
He was a dispatcher for Kent County 911, an EMT at the American Legion Ambulance Service Station 64, and a Firefighter for the Camden Wyoming Fire Company Station 41. Initial reports are that a vehicle crossed the roadway and struck him.
WHILE NOT FATAL, TWO Firefighters Are Missing From Georgia
Two missing Firefighters from Georgia could be in Tennessee, according to the Hinesville Police Department. The two Firefighters, Raegan Anderson and Chandler Kuhbander were reported missing out of Liberty County. Ms. Anderson was cited in a June 22 police report “where Ms. Anderson came into an Olive Garden in Pooler where Chandler Kuhbander was on a date. Ms. Anderson caused a disturbance with Mr. Chandler Kuhbander and she walked outside and keyed his vehicle. Anderson is reportedly Chandler Kuhbander’s ex-girlfriend.
Jane Kuhbander said she is worried about her son’s safety, FF Chandler Kuhbander, and his ex-girlfriend FF Raegan Anderson. She does not believe the former high school sweethearts willingly ran off together as they had a “toxic” relationship.
They could be driving Anderson’s car, a black 2017 Ford Focus. WVLT News spoke with department representatives, who said one of their phones “pinged” in the East Tennessee area. The family believes they are going to the areas of Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
