Take a few minutes to watch and listen to this incident. You will see and hear the Deputy Chief advise units what he expects to be done on his fireground.
“Command to all units: stay OFF the air unless urgent.”
“All Units: I SAID to stay off the air UNLESS urgent.”
“This is not a debate, I said I need you on the roof.”
“I hear your (SCBA) vibra alert going off, get out.”
Take time to listen and watch this solid example of not allowing the “tail to wag the dog” on the fireground … be it intentional or unintentional by members operating. The bottom line is that the boss is the boss and there’s a reason for that …. ’cause the boss owns the incident and not everything can be sugar coated.
