FRENCH FIREFIGHTER DIES IN THE LINE OF DUTY-WILDLAND FIRE
We regret to pass on that in France, a 22‑year‑old volunteer Firefighter died in the Line of Duty early Wednesday morning while fighting a wildfire in Le Planay, Savoie. The fire began back on June 24 after a thunderstorm/lightning started it, then the fire intensified under strong winds.
While operating on steep terrain around 0500 the Firefighter was struck by a boulder that broke loose from the burning mountainside.
