An on-duty Richmond University Medical Center EMS EMT was shot in Staten Island this evening.
The victim had responded to Forest Avenue for reports of a man who needed medical aid, the man was loaded into the ambulance, then pulled out a gun and shot the EMT.

The suspect was taken into custody after the Forest Avenue shooting around 20:00 hours and the EMT was taken to a hospital for treatment. The EMT is not employed by the FDNY but by Richmond University Medical Center, on of numerous area 911 EMS participating providers.

The EMT is currently being treated in their trauma unit where he is stable and under evaluation. The shooter is in police custody.
