Motorola recently announced a formal split into two companies; one to pursue its consumer electronics line such as cell phones, and the other to continue its public safety market. Solutions, as the public safety entity will be known will remain in Schaumburg. Mobility will relocate to a nearby community. There will probably be little, if any, immediate impact on departments doing business with Motorola, who has been in the business since the 1930s.
