By KSDK:
The Ferguson Fire Department says its firefighters are okay after a car smashed into one of its stations on West Florissant Avenue.
The department said at around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, the vehicle smashed into an exterior wall of Station 2, sending bricks flying down into the garage and damaging a pumper truck.
“Firefighters were inside the station at the time of the incident and immediately provided medical care to the driver, who was transported to a local hospital. Crews from Station 2 and Station 1 worked together to secure the vehicle in place and safely extricate the occupant,” the department said on social media.
No firefighters were physically hurt, and the station remains open with no interruption to emergency response capabilities, the department said.
