CHARLOTTE — Multiple people were hurt in an overnight crash in University City involving a MEDIC truck.
According to MEDIC, the crash happened around 12:30 a.m. on Friday on North Tryon Street at Mallard Creek Church Road.
MEDIC says Unit 62 was responding to a crash call and treating a patient for non-related injuries when their truck was hit by another car.
MEDIC also transported a passenger from the vehicle that hit their truck; that patient had life-threatening injuries as well.
Officials have not released the cause of the crash.
Channel 9′s Anthony Kustura was at the scene, where officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department had shut down the road to investigate the crash. At the scene, our crew saw a MEDIC truck turned on its side with heavy damage.
According to MEDIC, their ambulance was hit, while the medics were in the back treating the initial patient.
A spokesperson with MEDIC told Channel 9 just before 8:30 on Friday morning, that the crews involved in the crash have been discharged from the hospital and are at home recovering.
