A Florida man was arrested after he attacked a local fire chief who was trying to perform CPR on his wife. She would eventually die.
Christopher Wade Smith,51, punched Escmabia County Fire Chief Michael Tyler in the right eye for trying to step in and perform CPR on his wife, who was not breathing.
Escambia County EMS units arrived to the 9000 block of Appleton Road in Brewton, Florida, after the Sheriff’s Office was notified of a woman having an asthma attack.
Sheriff’s deputies were called soon after the initial 6.45pm call to assist in the matter as the address was recognize for a domestic dispute issue earlier in the day.
‘(EMS and Fire) made the decision to stage a short distance away from the residence awaiting law enforcement’s arrival,’ the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement on Friday.
