Troopers with the SC Highway Patrol said a man faces DUI and other charges after he was accused of turning in front of an ambulance, resulting in a crash.
Troopers said the wreck happened near the intersection of US 123 and Rochester Highway Wednesday evening.
Firefighters say a Prisma Ambulance was transporting a critical patient when it collided with a car at the intersection. The fire department said on arrival it was determined that the crew of the ambulance and the driver of the vehicle only suffered minor injuries.
Due to the severe nature of the crash and the condition of the vehicles involved, a helicopter was requested to continue transporting the patient in the ambulance.
Troopers said Thursday that the crash happened when a 2007 Kia being driven by Christopher Allen Glover of Seneca turned left onto Rochester Highway and was hit by the ambulance.
Troopers said Glover was charged with driving under the influence, open container, and no SC drivers license.
