MAN ASSAULTS WASHINGTON PARAMEDICS

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – A 60-year-old man, identified as Luis Rojas-Ramirez, was arrested after allegedly assaulting paramedics at Capital Call Vineyards on November 14, 2025.

According to a police report, the Walla Walla Firefighters/Paramedics Department requested law enforcement assistance due to Rojas-Ramirez’s aggressive behavior. Officer Matthew Greenland and Sgt. Smith responded to the call.

Upon their arrival, the officers learned from Firefighter/Paramedic Paul Renwick that Rojas-Ramirez, who was severely intoxicated, had struck him in the face while being escorted to an ambulance. Another paramedic, Bo Pingree, reported being struck in the torso and shoulder, and Rojas-Ramirez allegedly threatened him by mimicking holding a rifle.

Despite the assaults, paramedics completed their assessment of Rojas-Ramirez, who had fallen earlier. Sgt. Smith addressed his behavior, and it was decided he would be transported to Providence St. Mary Medical Center for a medical evaluation.

After receiving medical clearance, Rojas-Ramirez was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault 3rd Degree and one count of Felony Harassment, Threats to Kill. He was then transported to Walla Walla County Jail.

Officer Greenland noted that Rojas-Ramirez frequently exhibits such behavior, prompting a policy for law enforcement to accompany medics during interactions with him.
