LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Two buildings caught fire in Old Louisville, and at least one firefighter has been injured.
The Louisville Fire Department put out a notice on X just after 2 p.m. Wednesday with this photo:
Firefighters described it as a three-alarm fire, meaning LFD needed a lot of backup.
The building next to it, on the corner, also caught fire. At least four of the 10 units are occupied.
So far, all building searches have turned up negative.
LFD said there was a collapse in one of the buildings.
The firefighter was transported to a hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Travis Thomas, President/Owner of Kentuckiana Property Management, said the company notified tenants of the apartment building and urged them all to evacuate.
“We’re working with Red cross to get them temporary housing,” Thomas said. “We also have a lot of vacant units that the current owner of this property owns, and we’re going to be working with them to hopefully place them in those.”
Streets in that area are blocked off. People are being advised to avoid the area if possible.
So far, no word on how the fire started.
