ILLINOIS FIREFIGHTER KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY DURING TRAINING:
Last evening, a fire tanker with the Blue Mound FPD in Illinois rolled over while participating in a training drill. This happened in southwest Macon County around 2030 hours and a Firefighter was killed in the Line Of Duty. The Firefighter, who was driving, was 24 years old…another FF on the rig was slightly injured. Area FD’s were doing a water supply shuttle drill. He was conscious during the extrication but then lost consciousness and was pronounced at the hospital due to his injuries. Additional details to follow.
ROTOR BLADE TRAGICALLY KILLS PARAMEDIC:
It is with deep regret that we advise you of the Line of Duty Death of a Paramedic with the Arizona Department of Public Safety. Paramedic Bruce Harrolle was hit with the rotor blade from the DPS helicopter while conducting a mountain rescue around 1600 hours yesterday. The helicopter landed to evacuate the two hikers…the medic secured one hiker inside the helicopter and the rotor blade struck him as he was guiding the second hiker to the helicopter. The helicopter flew the hikers to safety without further incident. Paramedic Harrolle is a 9 year veteran with DPS and he leaves behind a wife and 2 young children.
