At 4:36 AM this morning the Elmsford Fire Dept. was dispatched to a possible house fire at 20 North Mortimer Ave.
Chief Michael Eannazzo and Assistant Chief Richard Hoke arrived at 4:39 AM, confirming a fully involved structure fire at 20 North Mortimer Ave, with a resident on the front porch roof, as well as extension into the attic of 18 North Mortimer Ave (Exposure D).
Initial operations included the following:
L-55 was first due and was in the process of raising its aerial ladder when the resident jumped onto the roof a police car which had driven into the driveway under where he was standing.
E-237 arrived second due, placing its deck gun into operation, in front of Exposure D, knocking fire down in the attic and protecting it from additional damage from the original fire.
While E-137 arrived third due, placing its desk gun into operation, in front of 22 North Mortimer Ave (Exposure B), effectively protecting it from radiant heat and fire.
L-55 also placed its ladder pipe into operation, in front of the original fire building, in addition to numerous handlines being deployed.
