A Kentucky Wildland Firefighter, 31, (reported as KY Division of Forestry, in the SE KY area) was critically burned earlier today. Current information is that the burns are less than 50%, but fortunately, his airway appears to be uninjured. The Firefighter was working a fire line and fell into a burning area, according to initial details.
The Firefighter was treated/stabilized locally and then flown to the University of Cincinnati Adult Burn Care Unit. Local Firefighters from Cincinnati and the suburban Hamilton County region are at the hospital to support the family, in coordination with the staff from Supporting Heroes* and the Kentucky Division of Forestry.
