GRAVES COUNTY — Mayfield-Graves County Fire and Rescue Chief David Warner was briefly knocked unconscious Sunday night after his firetruck collided with a pickup truck while he was responding to a brush fire. First responders said the accident highlights the dangers they face while responding to calls.
The crash occurred at the Kentucky 58 and Kentucky 121 interchange in Mayfield when the pickup truck hit Warner’s firetruck. Deputy Chief Derek Lancaster said nobody was at fault in the crash, and the pickup truck driver was uninjured. Warner was flown to an out-of-state hospital for treatment and is now back at his home, experiencing minimal soreness, according to his stepdaughter, Mary Davidson.
