JERSEY CITY — A police officer was injured in a three-car crash Sunday morning that involved a police cruiser and ambulance, authorities said.
At about 9:45 a.m., a 29-year-old man driving a red Toyota crashed into a Jersey City Medical Center ambulance responding to an emergency call at the Woodlawn and Bergen avenue intersection, according to a crash report.
The driver told police he didn’t have enough time to stop before striking the ambulance in the intersection. The 29-year-old said he then lost control of the car and hit a police car stopped at the other side of the intersection. The car finally came to a stop after it crashed into a wall in front of a home, the report states.
The 35-year-old police officer was brought to the hospital to be treated for lower back pain.
Police issued a summons to the 29-year-old for having an expired license, the report states.
