Oxford Mayor Heather Johnson is thanking one of the city’s firefighters and wishing him a speedy recovery after he suffered burns fighting a house fire Friday.
Johnson posted that Travis Walters got 3rd degree burns to battle a blaze in Cosgrove. Johnson says he was taken to UIHC and kept overnight.
“I’d like to speak on behalf of the City of Oxford and say thank you to all of our volunteer firefighters and first responders for their selfless dedication to our community,” Johnson writes. “As of right now, Travis and his family are not in need of anything, and would prefer to have him rest and recover quietly at home.”
Johnson says she’ll update if the family needs anything in the coming days.
