ALBANY, GA –
Dougherty County E-M-S leaders are praising two paramedics who treated an injured driver even after they were hurt in a crash.
Paramedic Jeff Rambo says he’s still sore after Tuesday’s crash but glad he wasn’t more seriously hurt.
He and paramedic Elizabeth Posey were driving South on Madison Street responding to a call when a car pulled in front of them.
The ambulance hit the car and then a power pole.
The car crashed into a wall.
Rambo said “We got out and we did what we do. We got out and started treating him. By the time the ambulance came to a halt, he was laying on the ground on the passenger side of his vehicle.”
Dougherty County EMS Director Bobby Tripp said “Even though they were injured they got out and were more concerned about the person who was in the other vehicle, than they were themselves. So that to me is quite an act of service beyond the call of duty.”
The driver of the car, 30-year old Shuntrez Taylor of Albany, suffered facial cuts.
He was cited for improper lane change and driving with a suspended license.
