Information on Funeral Arrangements for Volunteer Operations Commander Chief Nick Finamore
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all arrangements for Chief Finamore are limited. Existing safety guidelines and mandates will be followed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone. There will be a private viewing for “family only” and the funeral service and burial will be by “invitation only.” If you wish to pay your respects to Chief Finamore, you may do so along the procession route.
Private Viewing, Funeral, and Burial Arrangements are scheduled for Monday, January 11th, 2021.
Private Viewing is reserved for family only.
Funeral Services & Burial
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM and burial will follow. Funeral services and burial is by invitation only by the family. The family will personally contact fire department members who they have requested to attend. If you did not receive an invitation from the family, DO NOT proceed to the funeral service or burial.
Procession Route Information
There will be several different locations along the procession route where friends, uniformed personnel, and fire department companies from PGFD and partnering agencies can pay their respects to Chief Finamore. We expect the procession will begin at approximately 10:15 AM but is subject to change. We are asking those who wish to pay their respects along the procession route to begin gathering at 9:15 AM to allow for ample time for coordination.
There will be two (2) different gathering locations for coordination along the procession route:
Friends and Civilian Members: For friends wishing to pay their respects, we are asking that you please report to the Village at Lee Airpark Shopping Center located at 13 Lee Airpark Drive, Edgewater, MD 21307 (the shopping center is located just off Route 2 near Collinson Lee Lane). A Fire Department representative will meet you there and guide you to where you can stand to pay your respects as the procession drives past.
Uniformed Personnel: For all uniformed personnel wishing to pay their respects, we’re asking that you report to Southern High School located at 4400 Solomons Island Road, Harwood, MD 20776. A fire department representative will meet you there and guide you to where we will present a “sea of blue” as the procession drives past.
Apparatus Static Display Information
Any fire department company wishing to participate by providing an apparatus as a static display along the procession route may contact Battalion Chief Ashley Catterton at email@example.com or (240) 417-7439 by 5:00 PM on Saturday, January 9, 2021.
The plan is to have all static display apparatus staged by 9:15 AM on Monday, January 11, 2021.
Although these arrangements are limited due to COVID, they are necessary to ensure everyone’s safety. There are plans to host a memorial event for everyone to gather together in Chief Finamore’s honor at a future date when the situation is deemed safe to do so. Until then, the family sends their love and appreciation for the outpouring of support.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
