The condition of a Howell man who was seriously injured in a collision last Thursday between a car and an ambulance at M-59 and Eager Road has improved. 76-year-old Karl Girardi, who was originally listed in critical condition after the Oceola Township accident, has been upgraded and was listed in fair condition Sunday. That’s according to officials at Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital near Ann Arbor, where Girardi was admitted after the mishap. Livingston County Sheriff’s officials say the eastbound ambulance was transporting a patient to Pontiac, and had its flashing lights and siren on, at the time. The ambulance driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries and the patient in the ambulance suffered no additional injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
