Due to the massive floods that are being experienced in Germany, there have been 2 Firefighters who have died in the line of Duty.
Yesterday, a Firefighter, 46, died in a flood operation in Altena.Initial reports are that a man got into the water and the Altena Firefighters were able to save him. When getting back into the fire apparatus, the Firefighter fell into the water and was swept away by the current. He was later recovered but had lost his life.
The storm hit the Märkischer Kreis particularly hard on Wednesday. Altena in particular was affected: the city was completely cut off in the meantime and people had to be evacuated. Altena is a town in the district of Märkischer Kreis, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
A 2nd Firefighter died in the Line of Duty today. The Firefighter, 52, was involved with numerous rescue details and collapsed in the area of the Elverlingsen power plant in Werdohl. Werdohl is a town in the district Märkischer Kreis, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
