FSRI has launched a new “The Science of Fire and Explosion Hazards from Lithium-ion Batteries” online course that is available through the link below.
Lithium-ion battery-powered devices – cell phones, laptops, power tools, electric vehicles, and scooters – are everywhere. As a Firefighter, there is a significant operation concern with the possibility these batteries can overheat, catch fire, and in some cases, cause explosions. This course focuses on the foundational research conducted to date, providing a better understanding of lithium-ion batteries, thermal runaway, and how fire and explosion hazards can develop.
