STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Multiple firefighters suffered injuries battling a fire within a stretch of Mariners Harbor condos Monday night.
The FDNY responded to 119 Pond Way, a residential home, at around 7:20 p.m., according to an official from the department’s press office.
Multiple FDNY vehicles lined the street leading up to the home Monday night and dozens of firefighters were on scene.
Four firefighters were transported to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze with minor injuries following the response, the FDNY said.
The second story and roof of the home appeared badly charred, and firefighters were removing debris from the building just before 8 p.m.
Myrna Fields, a neighbor who lives a few doors away, said she saw “smoke billowing from the roof,” and came outside to see fire trucks lining the street near her home.
The FDNY placed the fire under control at 7:55 p.m., the department said.
