FIREFIGHTERS: WIFE & HUSBAND-APPARATUS CRASH, $10 MILLION FOR FF HEALTH (The Secret List)

All,

In many volunteer fire departments, common last names can be found on the roster, because family members protect many communities. Without them, in many of those areas, there may not be a fire department.
In Quinlan, Texas, (east of Dallas) today, there was a serious responding fire apparatus rollover where a husband and wife, both members, were injured. The crash happened just before 1400 hours, south of Greenville and east of Rockwall. Engine 62 was responding to a fire call, and they encountered a bend in the road, when the fire truck rolled.
Other area emergency service personnel responded when the crash was reported, as 2 Quinlan VFD volunteers were injured. The driver was a female (wife) who was taken to a Level 1 trauma center by helicopter. The other was a male passenger (husband) taken to a Greenville hospital by ambulance, and they are husband and wife. Both suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

CALIFORNIA COMMITS NEARLY 10 MILLION DOLLARS FOCUSED ON FIREFIGHTER HEALTH
Cal Fire will spend $9.7 million on research into how worsening wildfires and other exposures may be increasing the risk for cancer among California Firefighters. Researchers from UCLA and UC Davis will evaluate the health of 3,500 firefighters over two years and look for signs that they have been exposed to cancer-causing substances or have experienced biological changes that increase their odds of getting the disease.
