AMBULANCE STRUCK BY WRONG-WAY DRIVER ON MASS. TURNPIKE
Four people are in the hospital after a wrong-way driver crashed into an ambulance in Natick, on the Massachusetts Turnpike during the early hours of this morning. The wrong-way driver is in critical condition and was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital along with two paramedics from Vital Ambulance, who have minor injuries. The patient in the ambulance was transported with minor injuries from the crash.
Massachusetts State Police first saw the wrong-way driver on the Mass. Pike in Newton just after 3 a.m. Wednesday. The car was traveling west in the eastbound lane at an “excessive speed,” and “weaving in and out of traffic,” – another trooper deployed a tire deflation device because of the “danger to the public.” But before the driver stopped, the car struck an ambulance near Exit 13 in Natick.
