Five Troy (NY) Firefighters needed hospital care after an incident during an exercise today at the Colonie Fire Training Tower. Fortunately, all 5 FF’s were released from the hospital after suffering and being treated for burns. The incident occurred during a live training class run by the NY State Office of Fire Prevention and Control. The Firefighters were undergoing training to become instructors. 2 of the members received 2nd-degree burns and will require further treatment. The other 2 were able to return to work.
The instructor class was also attended by Firefighters from other departments around the state, but reports are that the Firefighters from Troy were the only ones to suffer injuries. KTIYP’s
