LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A firefighter has been injured after a large fire at a home in southern Indiana.
According to the Highlander Fire Protection District, the fire happened at a home on Wind Hill Drive in Greenville around 4 p.m. Sunday.
A spokesperson for HFPD confirmed the fire was burning through a second-floor attic from the front to both sides of the home. Crews from additional departments had to be called in to help put out the fire.
HFPD said the fire was difficult to put out and bitter cold temperatures did not help either.
Two people were sent to the hospital as a precaution including a firefighter who partially fell through the second floor. He was not seriously injured.
The home’s second floor was a total loss with most of the first floor damaged by smoke and fire.
Crews remained at the scene throughout the evening to clear the home of spot fires.
