FIREFIGHTER LODD-STRUCK BY TREE-LA., 4 FIREFIGHTERS KILLED-Indonesia Wildland Fire (The Secret List)

All,

We regret to pass on that U.S. Forest Service Firefighter Kaitlyn “KK” Gallagher of Alexandria, Louisiana was killed in the Line of Duty. FF Gallagher died on October 14 as she was hit by a tree when responding to the Broken Creek Fire, a 10-acre wildfire which is now contained, that happened in Rapides Parish on the Kisatchie National Forest.
Firefighter Gallagher joined the U.S. Forest Service as a Wildland Firefighter Apprentice in 2025. She served as both engine and wildland fire modules for two summers at the Shoshone National Forest in Wyoming. Working for the Kisatchie National Forest, Gallagher helped with prescribed burns and responding to wildfires.

Her family stated that she was a Youth Leader at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church and the Girls Basketball and Softball coach at Holy Savior Menard High School in Alexandria.

The mother of Kaitlyn “KK” Gallagher (Debbie) shared this message on her passing: “Our sweet KK has been a wildland firefighter for the past two years here in Kisatchie National Forest. Yesterday, there was a fire and she lost her life. She did not survive the accident. We know she is wrapped in Jesus’ arms, rejoicing with the angels. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. She will be terribly missed by many.”
4 FIREFIGHTERS KILLED IN INDONESIA WILDLAND FIRE
4 Firefighters were killed and two others suffered severe burns while operating at a wildfire in a national park on Indonesia’s main island of Java, after they became trapped by thick smoke and rapidly spreading fire.

The fire erupted in recent days in the Mentigen and Pusung Lingker areas of the popular Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park in East Java’s Probolinggo regency.

The victims were among a 12-member firefighting team consisting of national park personnel, members of a community fire brigade and local volunteers trying to contain the wildfire on Thursday.

Strong winds fanned the flames and caused the fire to spread quickly through dry vegetation. At about 1:30 p.m., firefighters operating outside the danger zone received an emergency call from colleagues who had become trapped by dense smoke and advancing flames, Abast said.

Our condolences to all those affected by the above losses, Rest In Peace.
Take Care. Be Careful. Pass it On.
