All,
We regret to inform you that an Adrian (Texas, near Amarillo) volunteer Firefighter was killed in the Line of Duty in a rollover crash while responding to a truck fire.
Adrian Firefighter Gary Wayne James, 80, of Adrian, was driving west on the south Interstate 40 service road toward the fire when the crash happened around 1615 hours Friday, about 4 miles west of Adrian.
According to law enforcement, the Firefighter was driving a 1984 Chevrolet K3500 Cheyenne dually at an unsafe speed for a curve. He failed to negotiate the curve, lost control of the truck, and rolled. James was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, according to DPS. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Our condolences to all those affected. Rest in peace.
