A Newark firefighter suffered non-life threatening injuries in an assault at a location in the city Friday morning.
Interim Newark Public Safety Director Raul Malave said it happened just after 11:40 a.m. today.
According to Director Malave, Police responded to Clinton Avenue and Baldwin Avenue on a call of a man who threw a bottle at the windshield of a fire truck.
Witnesses say the emotionally distraught man began to damage other parts of the fire truck.
Police said the shattered glass injured the Newark Firefighter, who is currently being treated at University Hospital.
The suspect has been taken into custody.
