CHELSEA, Mass. — A firefighter was taken to the hospital and more than 20 people were forced out of their home after a massive fire broke out in Chelsea on Tuesday morning.
Firefighters responding to Blossom Street around 1:00 a.m. found heavy flames spewing from the back porch of a multi-family home, according to the Chelsea Fire Department.
Deputy Fire Chief Michael Masucci said the heat and humidity presented a problem for responding crews, and their big concern was the fire spreading to a nearby home.
Video taken by Paul Koolloian showed raging flames tearing through the porch area.
Two cats were also rescued from the six-unit building, according to Masucci.
The building is considered a total loss.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
