10/11/1928 a Troy, New York firefighter “died as a result of injuries he sustained while operating at a fire prevention drill. He died of cerebral edema following an accident where a life net broke during a Fire Prevention Week demonstration at the Gay Building, State and 3rd Street.”
10/11/1933 a Brownsville, Brooklyn, New York (FDNY) firefighter “died after being struck by a falling cornice during a fire.”
10/11/1957 an Akron, OH firefighter “was overcome by smoke and heat while fighting a fire on East Market Street.”
10/11/1966 a Eugene, Oregon firefighter died “while fighting a general alarm fire at the Kendall Ford auto dealership. He was killed when a concrete wall collapsed and crushed him underneath. The firefighter was one of four firefighters on a hose line. He was on the nozzle when the wall began to collapse and could not get out in time.”
