A North Carolina volunteer Firefighter was seriously injured after being ejected from his truck in a single vehicle accident in Johnston County (SE of Raleigh). The crash was reported at 0924 hours yesterday (Monday) south of Four Oaks.
Firefighter Cecil Dale Thornton, 18, was turning out for a medical call with the Blackman’s Crossroads Fire Department when he ran off the roadway and overturned. Firefighter Thornton was ejected from his truck and initial reports are that FF Thornton was paralyzed from the waist down. He was treated and rushed to the trauma center at WakeMed and underwent surgery today.
