Officers say a firefighter was assaulted while just doing his job.
Firefighters were battling flames at a home near East Apache Street and North Sheridan Road around 11:30 p.m. Monday, according to the police report. Firefighters said a man, Dale Parsons, tried to go back inside the home, but a firefighter stopped him. Parsons hit the firefighter over the head with a flashlight and knocked him to the ground, officials said.
Multiple firefighters and officers pulled Parsons off the firefighter.
Parsons was booked into the Tulsa County Jail on complaints of assault with a deadly weapon, interfering with a fireman, and possession of drugs.
The firefighter was treated and released on scene. His name has not been released.
Crews were able to put out the fire.
