Construction on a new and improved Fire Station No. 2 in Stevens Point is expected to start in the next couple weeks.
City officials are saying residents can expect the remodeled station to be complete by mid-June.
Station No. 2 was rendered unstable after a Portage County EMS driver slammed into the building back in February.
It’s estimated the driver was going about 75 miles an hour when he hit the building.
Firefighters say the final cost of the entire repair and remodel project will be around $1.2 million.
