In a posting on social media, Bon Air Fire Company identified the firefighter who ended his life at the station on Sept. 6 as Asif Rahman, 19, and said he will be missed.
Rahman joined the department in 2022 and was an active member with the company and was also a member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.
“Asif was a young member of our fire crew whose positive outlook on the fire service was contagious. He was always motivated and anxious to learn to improve himself so he could better serve our community and country,” said the post. “We extend our deepest condolences to the Rahman family and all that knew and loved Asif.”
The department said Rahman was a great asset to the fire crew and he will be deeply missed.
The post thanked the Delaware County Crisis Team, Haverford Township and other firefighters for supporting Bon Air during the difficult time.
