A major fire broke out Saturday morning in a mobile home in Mountain View’s Moffett Mobile Home Park, killing one person, destroying the home and leaving a fire captain hospitalized with a dislocated shoulder.
Firefighters entered the burning home, which had flames visible through the sides of the exterior, and found one resident inside. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the extensive fire, during which the floor inside the residence collapsed, according to the statement. A fire captain inside the building fell through the floor and dislocated his shoulder, and was transported to a local hospital.
Fire crews put out the fire, which did not extend to neighboring mobile homes, with the assistance of the Palo Alto Fire Department. There were no other reported injuries.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The mobile home was a total loss, causing an estimated $250,000 in damage, according to the statement.
