All,
College of the Sequoias (near Fresno, California) is mourning the loss of a fire cadet who experienced a medical emergency on the Hanford campus earlier this week.
The college confirmed that the cadet suffered a medical emergency on campus Monday.
According to the college, fellow cadets immediately assisted the student before on-site paramedic staff initiated medical care.
The cadet was then transferred to a nearby emergency hospital, where they died the following day.
In a statement, the college said: “We are devastated by this loss and extend our heartfelt condolences to the cadet’s family, friends and loved ones.”
The cause of the medical emergency remains under investigation, and it is not yet known what led to the incident.
College of the Sequoias fire academy applicants must pass a physical agility exam before being accepted into the program. The exam includes testing strength, balance and body coordination, as well as cardiovascular endurance.
Our condolences to all those affected. Rest in peace.
Take care. Be careful. Pass it on.
