Shortly after 1230 hrs today (TH 12/11) Engine 31 (1995 Pierce Dash) from Whitsett FD (Guilford County), NC was struck while operating on I-85 / I-40 near Rock Creek Dairy. Eng 31 urgently called (Guilford County, NC) communications and advised his unit was struck. From the radio traffic, it appeared the apparatus was in the left lane or left shoulder blocking for a previous crash. Initial reports are that a civilian vehicle was wedged between his truck and the (left side) jersey wall, and he could not get out of the vehicle (not pinned or hurt, but I believe the door was jammed). The truck will have to be towed from the scene.
