The Bon Air Fire Company (Delaware Co, PA, outside of Philadelphia) identified the Firefighter who ended his life at the fire station on the morning of Sept. 6 as Asif Rahman, 19. Rahman joined the department in 2022, was an active member of the fire company and the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. Asif was a young member of our fire crew whose positive outlook on the fire service was contagious. He was always motivated and anxious to learn to improve himself so he could better serve our community and country. The fire company posted that FF Rahman was a great asset to the fire crew and he will be deeply missed.
WISCONSIN FIREFIGHTER DEATH
The Menomonee Falls (WI) Fire Department lost a friend, colleague, and dedicated public servant yesterday with the tragic death of Firefighter/EMT Noel Bryant-Nanz. Firefighter Bryant-Nanz was a beloved friend and colleague of Menomonee Falls firefighters, but also a paramedic student at Milwaukee Area Technical College and EMT for Bell Ambulance. Firefighters face a significantly higher rate of suicide and mental health issues than the general public. If you are in a department, please reach out to your peer support or employee assistance program. Most organizations outside of the fire service also have an employee assistance program available. If you or someone else is in immediate need, you can dial “988” anywhere in the US to speak to someone who is there to listen and help.

BLOCKING FIRE APPARATUS STRUCK KILLING CIVILIAN
In Irving (Texas) units responded to an initial crash. The first one happened at about 0230 and involved several vehicles. While Firefighters were working on that accident, another vehicle struck the fire department’s blocker truck at about 0430 hours. The driver in the second crash died from their injuries.
