A motorcyclist was killed in a south Charlotte crash that involved a Charlotte fire apparatus. Around 1730 this evening, CFD Ladder 24 was responding to a medical incident and while en route to the scene, they were involved in a crash with a motorcycle at Pineville-Matthews Road at the intersection of McMahan Drive. The crew of Ladder 24 immediately began treating the patient on scene and the motorcycle driver was transported to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
2nd FIREFIGHTER DEATH IN FLORIDA DEPARTMENT
Weeks after a Firefighter died in Marion County (Ocala area), the department is again mourning the loss of another member. Marion County Fire Rescue announced the sudden death of MCFR Firefighter Paramedic Allen Singleton. He died on Saturday and leaves behind his wife and two children.
A viewing for FF-Medic Singleton will be held on Saturday at 0900 for the family. The funeral will be open to the public at Church at the Springs, 5424 S.E. 58th Ave. Ocala. The funeral will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at the church without a graveside service.
His death comes just weeks after the death of MCFR Firefighter Paramedic Tripp Wooten who died on Jan. 9. He also left behind his wife and two children.
