DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The city of Decatur will be shopping once again for a new fire apparatus after a recent traffic accident.
Decatur Fire Department Engine 8 was responding to a call with emergency lights and siren when it was struck by another vehicle at an intersection. No firefighters were injured.
The engine is likely a total loss. “I don’t think it’s repairable at all because I think the cost to repair it exceeds the value of the truck,” Fire Chief Jeff Abbott told WAND News.
The Department has an older truck in reserve. It will be used until a new truck can be obtained.
