A three-vehicle accident on I-65 Sunday morning resulted in the death of two people, according to Simpson-County Judge-Executive Mason Barnes, bgdailynews.com reported.
Barnes wrote on Twitter that Franklin-Simpson Fire and Rescue responded to the scene of an accident on I-65 Sunday. A vehicle then rear-ended one of the responding fire trucks, resulting in the death of the two occupants of the vehicle.
A firefighter aboard the truck was taken to a hospital for evaluation but appeared uninjured, the report said. The fire truck was totaled, according to Barnes.
The accident led to long delays on I-65 Sunday near mile marker 12, according to the report.
The identities of the victims and other details were not immediately available Sunday afternoon, the report said.
