At 2:30 this morning, Squad 5 was called to block traffic at a multiple car accident on the Lodge Expressway at Wyoming St. Just after the crew disembarked, a car traveling at over 75 miles an hour hit the squad in the rear. No firefighters or ems personnel working the accident site were injured. One police supervisor’s Impala was totaled as well.
The rig took the hit relatively well. The pump panel in the rear as well as the red line reel were undamaged. The compartments over and ahead of the rear wheels are undamaged. The water tank was damaged. Plans are to have it go back to HME and be repaired.
