Last Sunday there was a fire reported at 135 West 183rd Street in the Bronx, reporting a fire on the 5th floor of their apartment building. Just after that multiple calls started to come in also reporting fire at this building. Just as dispatchers were informing Battalion 19 of the quantity and quality of the calls, Engine 43 transmitted an urgent 10-75 for a fire on the top floor.
Crews made their way up while heavy winds made conditions tough. At one point, there was a ceiling collapse, which forced members back out of the apartments and off the fire floor.
Watch as one firefighter (00:30 second mark) made a quick exit into TL-33’s bucket as the fire blew behind him. The fire was brought under control after two hours.
