A driver was killed and three more people were seriously hurt after an SUV crashed into a Chicago fire truck on the Southwest Side early Sunday morning, Illinois State Police said, ABC7Chicago.com reported.
The crash happened at about 2:38 a.m. on the outbound Stevenson Expressway at Pulaski Road near Archer Heights, according to the report.
Chicago fire officials and police said the truck was stopped at another accident scene when it was hit. Four people, the SUV’s driver and passengers, were transported to a local hospital, where the driver was pronounced dead, the report said.
Officials said no firefighters were hurt in the crash. Further information was not immediately available.
