A CFD Firefighter, who just celebrated 1 year on the job, was critically burned at a basement fire on the Northwest Side of Chicago this morning. 2 other people were also hurt in the fire, and one died. The Firefighter needed to be intubated because his throat is severely burned. Reports are the dwelling did not have working smoke alarms.
The fire came in just after 0200 in the basement of the 2 story apartment building in the 3100-block of North Marmora Avenue. The Firefighter, who had just celebrated his first anniversary with the department and is relatively young, was taken to Community First Hospital and was later transferred to Loyola, as well. KHIYP’s
