CFD Engineer James Miller, Engine 37-B, was
injured Tuesday evening after being
struck by the oversized roof truss
load on a tractor trailer. Engineer Miller was assisting with traffic
control at an accident scene at Moss Rd and NC 49. The truck that was
carrying the roof trusses was attempting to get around the intersection when it
struck Eng. Miller.
Engineer Miller’s injuries were non-life
threatening. He received abrasions and bruising to his left
shoulder. Engine 37 had been special called by Captain Smith (L-26)
due to the number of spinal patients he was treating at the accident
scene. Engineer Miller was transported by Medic to Presbyterian
Hospital downtown. After a through examination, he was released to spend
the rest of his shift at home.
