AUSTIN, TEXAS CHIEF OFFICER PASSES AWAY FROM 9/11 RELATED CANCER

Brian Kazmierzak    December 31, 2022    No Comments

We are brokenhearted as we share the news that Battalion Chief Travis Maher (Battalion 1/C shift), a 23-year veteran of our department, died today after a valiant fight with cancer.
Among his many accomplishments, Travis, 49, was part of the legion of Texas A&M University Former Students; he was a proud graduate of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 1996 and a long-standing member of Texas A&M Task Force 1. He was deployed to several of our nation’s most significant disasters, including being one of 10 individuals from the Austin Fire Department who were sent to Ground Zero immediately following 9/11.
He leaves behind his wife, Lauren, and his two sons, Riley (18) and Maddox (16).
Final arrangements are pending. Please keep Travis’s family, friends, and “fire family” in your thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.
