A San Antonio gym owner faces one murder charge and four arson charges for setting a fire that killed San Antonio firefighter Scott Deem May 18.
Police say 39-year-old Emond Johnson set the fire to get out of his lease; he’s said to owe $7,000 in back rent. Johnson was arrested and is being held on a $1.63 million bond, according to MySA.com.
In addition to killing Deem, the fire injured two other firefighters.
Police say Johnson used a lighter to ignite a mixture of gasoline and oil he poured inside the gym.
